On Thursday, April 14th, bright young students from Waccamaw Middle and Coastal Montessori Charter filled an auditorium to learn more about the upcoming TECH After School program. Not fully sure of what they were about to hear from Jason Greene (Executive Director of the Grand Strand Technology Council), they sat looking at two piles of packages on the stage in front of them. They were soon surprised to learn that inside those packages were valuable technology tools that would be theirs to use for upcoming technology projects and challenges! Included in the equipment drop-off were video and audio production equipment, and LEGO robotics kits.
Additionally, the schools are going to be provided with access to a list of industry standard software that TECH After School will be encouraging the students to master by completing multiple real world challenges. These challenges will include video game development, cybersecurity, GIS, 3D modeling, and visual communications.
The kids were excited and ready to start using the equipment immediately, and the Grand Strand Technology Council is ready to get this initiative in the schools! This is just one program that fulfills the mission of the Grand Strand Technology Council, which is to promote, support, and enhance the growing technology sector on the Grand Strand.
